What do the ingredients do?
Neroli Hydrosol: This is a 100% pure and natural floral water from organic farming. It is obtained from the distillation of bitter orange blossom petals and has a sweet & citrusy smell. Neroli floral water can be used for all skin types, but especially for mature, dry and sensitive skin. The anti-inflammatory properties of neroli help soothe and calm skin inflammation including acne, eczema, psoriasis, etc. Its antibacterial properties help to treat acne and itchy skin issues. The powerful antioxidants in neroli hydrosol ward off pro-aging free radicals that promote early wrinkles and fine lines. Neroli is rich in vitamin C, which is known for its collagen boosting and cell turnover properties. It helps regenerate damaged skin including sunburns and scars.
Sweet almond oil (Prunus Dulcis): This gentle oil contains Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Omega-3 fatty acid and Zinc. It prevents premature aging and has the ability to stimulate the production of new skin cells and smooth fine lines. Its antioxidant properties help reverse sun damage and reduce the appearance of scars. Because almond oil is an anti-inflammatory, it may also help ease swelling of the skin. It also has an estimated SPF factor of 6.
Vegetable glycerin: This is a sugar alcohol that has been derived from NON-GMO soybean oil and NON-GMO corn oil. Vegetable glycerin is a popular skincare treatment because of its moisturizing power. Research shows that applying glycerin to your skin may gradually improve its smoothness and suppleness. Vegetable glycerin may lead to better skin health by helping soothe skin irritation, protect against infection and promote wound healing. Studies show that applying glycerin-containing products may protect your skin against irritants and microbes, as well as soothe inflamed or wounded skin. Moreover, vegetable glycerin may act as a barrier to safeguard your skin from the elements, including wind and cold.
Olivem 1000: This is a mild plant-based emulsifier made from Olive Oil that is ECO-CERT compatible. It is used to help bind water and oil molecules together and is very mild and hypoallergenic - perfect for sensitive, dry, and mature skin. It integrates into the skin's lipid barrier and reinforces its integrity, preventing dehydration and reducing damage caused by environmental factors. It penetrates deeply into the skin, moisturizing, hydrating, softening and nourishing it. It also helps soothe irritated skin by providing the fatty acids and nutrition required.
Colloidal Oatmeal: This ECO-CERT certified product is used universally in dermocosmetics. Colloidal oatmeal consists of an oat flour that contains oats and bran. Oat bran (husk) is where beta-glucans are found, which hydrate and reduce lines and fine wrinkles. Oatmeal provides many benefits – it moisturizes, repairs the lipid barrier, helps reduce redness and has anti-irritant and antioxidant properties as well as immuno-regulatory and anti-inflammatory properties in the treatment of atopic dermatitis.
Cetyl Alcohol: This is used as an emollient, emulsifier and to improve the texture of the lotion. It prevents moisture loss and reduces the ability of allergens and bacteria to affect the skin.
People often identify alcohols with drying out the skin and while this is true, cetyl alcohol is not an alcohol in this sense. Cetyl alcohol is a hybrid of alcohols and fatty acids or oils and actually helps to keep the skin moisturized. As an emollient, cetyl alcohol has the ability to soften and smooth flakiness on the skin, which helps to reduce rough, dry skin. The fatty acids that make up this ingredient create a barrier on the skin that effectively seals moisture in while keeping air and other environmental elements out. Emollients help to maintain the skin’s natural barrier which is vital to the health of the skin.
Sharomix: Sharomix™ 705 It is a broad-spectrum preservative and is effective against mold, yeast and bacteria. It is a blend of organic acids including Benzoic Acid, Sorbic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid and Benzyl Alcohol. It does not contain any formaldehyde, parabens or halogen. A preservative needs to be added to any water-based cosmetics.
Vitamin E: It moisturizes the skin as well as being anti-inflammatory and a powerful antioxidant that may be effective at reducing UV damage in skin and help nourish and protect your skin from damage caused by free radicals.
